Accessible Amedee

Having a day on Amedee Island is still one of the easiest ways to get out of the city and enjoy a local lagoon experience, say Beatrix Cuenot and Anne Gilodi of Mary D / Noumea Discovery.

‘The island is just a 45 minute boat ride from Noumea and on the day trip guests have access to a glass bottom boat ride to see the marine reserve, plus snorkelling gear and stand up paddle boards,’ says Cuenot. Visitors can walk around the island with a nature expert to learn about the flora and fauna as well as about the still operating lighthouse. Other features include coconut tree climbing, learning to tie a sarong, and a full buffet lunch. ‘The tours have been operating for more than 30 years but we are here to remind agents of what we offer. It is a really full and interesting day.’
