One of the founding partners, Gold coast based Fiona Wozney has sold WRD after 27 years and says the New Zealand trade has always been an important part of the company’s strategy. ‘This is especially true as we have become more global in who we represent. New Zealanders are mature travellers and they like our type of product.’ She says WRD has about 13 resorts on its portfolio new, with five from Fiji. ‘Over the years we have represented about 50% of the well known properties in Fiji and I have really valued the longevity of some of our partnerships. ‘Tokoriki, for example, has been a success story and we worked with them for 20 years now.’ The new owner will be a familiar face to many in New Zealand – Tess Willcox who has worked with WRD for a decade.
