SKAL Auckland AGM

SKAL Auckland has a new president after yesterday’s AGM despite the absence of the traditional handing over of the presidential chains yesterday.

The chains were ‘being fixed’ and the handover will happen at the travel industry fellowship organisation’s next lunch – at Mama Mia restaurant in March.

New president Michael Shah, of Cordis Hotel Auckland, says the priorities for him and the 2018 committee are to boost membership, and dovetailing into that is the development of Young SKAL Auckland.

He says the club is exposed to the effects of older members retiring and/or moving out of the city.

‘The demographic of the club does need to change and we need to encourage younger members.’

Shah says he would also like to see more travel agents as members, plus more people from the hotel sector.

‘I would like to make sure we are getting people across the whole industry.’ Yesterday’s AGM and lunch were held at Quality Hotel Parnell.
