Rob Beecher, director Global Travel Network, says the company was created due to a gap in the industry. ‘No one had formed a buying group that specifically catered to the independent agents providing a support network that is truly transparent. ‘Our GTN group continues to grow and develop and the interest remains high.’ Beecher says the industry is looking promising for future development. ‘We believe the industry is constantly changing and we believe GTN is well set up to adapt to the changes.’ Also, GTN, in partnership with Emirates hosted a group of top performing GTN travel agents at Red Elephant in Auckland this week.
The event was a chance for Emirates to thank the top performers for their support over the past year. Chris Lethbridge, regional manager Emirates, said that although airlines are decreasing in staff size, Emirates will continue to focus on spreading its resources in effective ways. ‘In discussions with GTN we decided that the best way to get to you is to have a private session with you and get to know you and thank you for your support.’ Lethbridge says the support and growth from GTN agents last year was ‘fantastic’, forward growth for next year is looking positive, and the Emirates team is available to help in any way necessary.
