Longest commercial flights launching

Singapore Airlines will launch the world’s longest commercial flights in October, with non-stop services between Singapore and New York using the new Airbus A350-900ULR (ultralong-range).

 

Flights are to be launched on 11 October 2018, to EWR. The route will initially be served three times a week, departing Singapore on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. SIA is the world’s first customer for the new A350-900ULR, with seven on firm order with Airbus. The aircraft will be configured in a two-class layout, with 67 Business Class seats and 94 Premium Economy Class seats. Tickets are being made available for sale progressively across the various booking channels.

Asia Now – that’s a wrap for 2018

Asia Now wrapped up with presentations and a Thai dinner at Grasshopper Restaurant central Auckland on Wednesday night. It was the last of six presentations (see TRAVELinc Memo Friday 11 June for a report from the Wellington version). Presenting companies included Singapore Airlines, Wendy Wu Tours, Macao Government Tourism Office, Philippine Airlines, Contiki, Garuda, Francis Travel Marketing / Fathom Asia, and Adventure World.

Tourism Australia’s focus on the New Zealand market will remain firmly on business events and incentives.
So remarked managing director John O’Sullivan at the Australian Tourism Exchange this week, saying the job of wooing Kiwi leisure travelers will remain with the eight states and territories in spite of increased competition in the wake of bolstered connectivity in the New Zealand market.
