After a stopover in Hong Kong, the group flew into Delhi to explore old and new, a highlight being a rickshaw ride through the maze of streets in the Chandni Chowk bazaar. From there they hopped on a Delhi metro train to head for the business and shopping hub of Connaught Place with its Janpath market. Agra and the Taj Mahal were next, followed by Jaipur, with its markets and Palace of the Winds, before heading back to Delhi.
‘The accommodation was stunning and varied from modern styling to exotic palaces,’ says Chambers. ‘But most of all I loved how much I learned about the country from our guide. The flights were great, and the group really enjoyed their time in Cathay’s business class lounge The Pier at Hong Kong airport. On the return journey we had a whole day in Hong Kong, so it was a great option for those who didn’t want to go into the city – they were able to enjoy the delicious food and drinks, have a lie down, and freshen up with showers.’
