Niseko’s biggest construction project is Park Hyatt Niseko in Hanazono, due for completion this winter in January 2020. It will overlook the Hanazono snow play park, and guests will be able to ski straight to the lifts from the entrance. Hanazono 308 is adding a new kid’s activity area – Galaxy of Kidz – featuring a ball pit, athletics area and a climbing wall. There will also be a new restaurant, café and bar located adjacent to the Hana 1 ski lift. Niseko’s developments are not exclusively luxury apartments, with the moderately priced hotel Midtown Niseko opening this winter.
The budget-friendly hotel offers both twin and triple rooms with an onsite restaurant, gym, reception desk and parking. There is also a shuttle stop to take guests directly to Hanazono and Hirafu. In Rusutsu, a new onsen has opened ahead of the winter season. Meantime, Chitose Airport in Sapporo has had a facelift with extensive renovations including new gates, restaurants and shops. The expanded departures lobby makes check-in smoother with additional counters, automatic checkin machines and smart lanes. The arrivals lobby now has an information desk as well as wifi rentals and a tours desk. travelandco.nz/featured-offers/
