Anita Clark, Outback Aussie Tours, and Mary-Clare Power, Southern Queensland Country Tourism have visited wholesalers and retailers in Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown and say the reception has been overwhelmingly positive. While Outback Aussie Tours is a well established comissionable product, Big Sky Country Drives is just starting to make traction. ‘We’ve been talking to wholesalers to get them packaged and we have had some success already,’ says Clark. ‘I would say we will soon be packaged by all of the major wholesalers n New Zealand.’ Power says Kiwi agents immediately show interest when presented with South east Queensland options away from the coast. ‘The feedback we get is that their clients are looking for something else to do when they are in Queensland. We know people will still want to go to the beach, and that’s great, but this gives them a chance to add new experiences on.’ Clark and Power say the Adventure Way Discovery itinerary in the Blue Sky Country Drives brochure has appealed to agents as a family campervan option and a number of other tour suggestions have also resonated with the trade here.
