Guests head to the Atherton Tablelands region, exploring the high country west of Cairns, sampling local produce and meeting local characters along the way. From Cairns the tour climbs to 500 metres above sea-level and then drives out of the rainforest and on to the multicultural village of Mareeba and the award winning Coffee Works for an introduction to Australia’s largest coffee growing region.
Guests travel through banana plantations, sugar cane farms, and through the townships of Tolga and Atherton on route to Herberton and its Historic Village. Lunch is at the Australian Platypus Centre and Smokehouse Café along Queensland’s highest scenic drive with views of the Tablelands and the Great Dividing Range. The day finishes at Tropical North Queensland’s only distillery at Mt Uncle sampling locally made spirits and liqueurs. This full day tour departs Cairns and Northern Beaches Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays. Port Douglas departures are also available.
