Tourism and events manager at Jacob’s Creek, Lisa Anderson, says the winery’s food and wine activities are all contracted and commissionable. ‘We see a lot of Kiwis, and they like to do the cooking class and food and wine master class,’ says Anderson, who was in Auckland last week for the South Australia pop-up restaurant promotion at Ponsonby’s Mr Toms.
The Barossa Valley ‘brand home’ of Jacob’s Creek is more than a cellar door, explains Anderson. ‘The wine experience room has a computerised a blending bar where aspiring wine-makers have their bottles air-sealed. This means the wine can be cellared for a year or so, and it comes with a personalised wine label. ‘We also have a three-bedroom cottage which would appeal to Kiwis, especially the self-drive market,’ says Anderson. ‘It’s ideal for pre or post house boating. The cottage looks out to the kitchen garden and is within walking distance (500m) of three other cellar doors.’
