Major tourism openings for QLD

Queensland has a line up of major tourism developments next year.

In Tropical North Queensland, Silky Oaks Lodge is undergoing a facelift to reopen on 1 October 2021 under the Baillie Lodges brand. Influenced by its Daintree Rainforest surroundings, the

refurbed lodge will integrate indigenous artworks and custom furnishings by Australian designers across six luxury villa styles, including the new 323sqm Daintree Pavilion.

Hazelwood Estate opens early 2021. In World Heritage-listed Lamington National Park, it will offer luxury glamping accommodation, onsite day spa, infinity swimming pool and wagyu cellar door. The team will work with local farmers to produce an on-farm paddock-to-plate experience to fit the rural setting.

Langham Gold Coast will open at the end of 2021 in one of three towers of the Jewel development. It will span 169 rooms/suites and 170 serviced apartments with views across the Surfers Paradise skyline in one direction and the Pacific Ocean in the other. The hotel will have a signature Cantonese restaurant, T’ang Court.

Queensland’s second underwater accommodation on the Great Barrier Reef will open at Lady Musgrave HQ – a new pontoon for day trippers, divers and educational groups off the coast of Bundaberg. Overnight guests will sleep under water in retractable bunk beds located in the pontoon observatory.
