Living on the Edge

If you think Celebrity Cruise’s newest ship, the ultra modern Caribbean-bound Celebrity Edge, is out of reach of most
Kiwi pockets, then think again – the ship was selling here days before its industry launch on Thursday.
Infinity Holidays’ Adrian Cooper, who was among trade who attended Celebrity Edge’s big reveal at Soul Bar in Auckland, says he booked two back-to-back cruises aboard the new vessel for March 2019 when

reservations opened two days before.
Edge, the first new build since Celebrity Reflection five years ago, will begin its service in the Caribbean from 18 December, 2018. Already some of next year’s Christmas and New Year cruises have sold out.
Revealing the 2918-guest ship to trade, RCL Cruises head of sales Australia and New Zealand Peter McCormick describes Edge’s design as revolutionary: ‘People will be talking about this for some time.’
And, agents who watched the reveal video, were impressed.
‘That ship is exciting. It’s something to rave about,’ commented Sue Grigg from Travel Associates. Those gimmicks are really nice gimmicks... totally innovative.’
One of the most talked about features on 3D-designed Edge is the Magic Carpet – a tennis court-sized platform that stops at four levels of the 16-deck ship, transforming into dinner areas, an extension to the pool deck and disembarkation station.
Another feature is the Stateroom with Infinite Veranda, which allows guests open-air access to the sea. Celebrity has
also more than doubled the number of available suites, adding two new categories – top of the line Iconic Suites situated above the ship’s bridge. There are also six split-level Edge Villas, which offer stunning views from two stories of windows and private plunge pools.
There is also a Rooftop Garden, to be tended daily by a resident horticulturist, where passengers can enjoy games and
and activities through the day. At night, the garden will be home to live music and the outdoor movie-and-meal pairing of A Taste of Film.
