Aurora promotes new ship, expeditions at trade event

The launch of Aurora’s new expedition ship, Greg Mortimer, and additional itineraries presents extra opportunities for New Zealand agents with clients seeking this increasingly popular form of cruising.

Some 90 agents attended Aurora’s trade function at Sofitel Auckland in Viaduct Harbour earlier this week, and business development manager Alex Fayan says that reflects high interest in expedition cruising. The Greg Mortimer due for completion in 2019, has 80 cabins (capacity 160 passengers but will travel with less on polar expeditions) and features an X-BOW that makes sailing smoother and faster while protecting the vulnerable environments visited using a virtual anchoring system.

The 2019 – 20 programme includes new itineraries such as Wild Chile featuring Robinson Crusoe Island (16 days Ushuaia, Argentina to Valparaiso, Chile); Treasures of a Coastal Desert (14 days Santiago, Chile to Guayaquil, Ecuador); Pacific to Caribbean Discovery featuring the Panama Canal Crossing (11 days Guayaquil, Ecuador to Cartagena de India’s, Colombia), Caribbean Odyssey (16 days Cartegena de Indias, Colombia to Miami, USA); and Inuit Arctic and Beyond (21 days Reykjavik, Iceland to St John’s Canada). agents@auroraexpeditions.com.au
