HOT Cruise aims to get more Kiwis ‘on-board’

House of Travel says it is committed to getting more Kiwis ‘on-board’ with cruising, especially those who have not cruised before.

Jeff Leckey, HOT Cruise’s general manager says the focus is on staff training and technology to improve product knowledge and ensure agents stay up to date with all that is new. House of Travel recently upgraded its cruise booking tools which give live access to the best cruise fares and latest inventory – up to the minute deals and the most current notifications on cabin availability. ‘Our cruise booking systems boost productivity, accuracy and efficiency, and with instant confirmations uploaded to our back office, it also eliminates the need for manual entry of bookings.

With every cruise option at hand, House of Travel cruise consultants can ensure they offer the right cruise, cabin and itinerary to suit the client’s needs,’ adds Leckey. Training complements technology, and House of Travel’s ongoing consultant education includes CLIA training. This year alone there are 14 House of Travel consultants completing their CLIA Masters on Pacific Aria: the highest of CLIA’s three tiers.

‘At the heart of a good cruise consultant is a love for cruising,’ says Chris Trew, House of Travel Takapuna who has been cruising for just over 10 years. Trew particularly likes House of Travel’s culture of spending time with clients to find their perfect travel option. ‘You have to match the right ship and right itinerary to the right client – then find them the right cabin,’ he says. The NZ cruise market had an 8% increase in 2017 and even greater customer demand in 2018 (CLIA Market Report).
