Early taste of Dream downunder

With Explorer Dream heading downunder for its inaugural Australasian season this month, Dream Cruises has taken the opportunity to showcase the kind of experience Kiwi cruisers can expect when she arrives.

Explorer’s sister ship, the much larger Genting Dream, is hosting New Zealand and Australian travel media this week to a five-day round-trip voyage from Singapore to Vietnam’s, Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh. Genting Dream’s collaboration with Penfolds means guests onboard are able to sample some of the best wines from the historic Australian winemaker at the Penfolds Wine Vault.

Offering regular wine tasting events, the vault also hosts food and wine pairings by arrangement – an interactive spectacle that was enjoyed by the media group on the first night of the cruise. Cellar master Erdal Uysal’s artful mastery of the Reidel Austrian-made wine decanters captivated the group as did his extensive knowledge of their contents. • See more from Genting Dream’s Vietnam voyage in Friday’s Memo
