‘Features along the route are medieval towns and castle remnants along the Lower Rhine adventure trail ‘Rheinschiene’; windmills of the Kinderdijk (UNESCO World Heritage); plenty of quaint little Dutch towns and even a Roman archaeological site,’ adds Grant. She says excursions can be booked on board to explore the interesting towns along the way, such as Dordrecht and Dusseldorf. The newly refurbished river boat has all outside cabins with windows and private shower and toilet. Cycle tours can be guided or self-guided. The all-inclusive cost starts at $1600 plus bike hire of $117. There are four departures only in July and August.

Cycle Europe / A Walker’s World is close to releasing its Bike, Boat and Barge brochure for 2018. Among the new offerings is a Holland Meets Germany By Bike & Boat itinerary. Director Jill Grant says this easy cycle tour takes a meandering scenic course over a week between Rotterdam and Cologne and vice versa.
