Wedding market in focus for agents on Samoa famil

Samoa, and particularly the country’s Sheraton properties, are making a concerted effort to attract more destination weddings out of New Zealand.
Putting the country on the marriage map is a key objective of a four day famil being hosted right now by Marriott International and Air New Zealand.
Rhonda Williams, of Fuzion Travel, says she is interested to see what the wedding scene in Samoa has to offer.

‘The perception is that Samoa isn’t as developed as say New Zealand, or Hawaii or Fiji when it comes to weddings.

It would be good to see the kind of product they have here. There’s no doubt beautiful spots but how do they compare to the other, more popular wedding destinations?’
Anna Wilson, groups and wedding specialist for Our World, agrees, saying she also is keen to compare Samoa with other destinations that already do weddings really well.
‘How does it stack up against those other places – what’s different about it? Why would our clients choose Samoa over somewhere else that is more established?’
Wilson also says she is keen to learn about the kind of packages Samoa has to offer wedding clients.
‘Kiwis love all inclusive packages – if the properties here do that, that is what our clients are looking for.’
The group flew Air New Zealand to Apia yesterday morning, and after checking in to accommodation at Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort, headed off to a special Hens Pamper Party at Manaia Polynesian Spa.
