Birgita Devries, assistant vice-president sales and marketing Australia and NZ, and Aaron Eilers, inbound sales manager, were in Auckland for the occasion and say Kiwi agents can expect to see more of them as interest here grows. Dream Cruises is a premium / luxury brand in the Star Cruises family and operates Genting Dream out of Singapore, and World Dream from Hong Kong. The Singapore option is most popular with the Australasian market and agents are being advised to recommend the Palace Suites product – a high end but value offering that includes a full drinks package, wifi, butler service and more.
Devries says Dream Cruises recognises strong growth out of the New Zealand market and sees Asia opening up as a new cruise destination from here. ‘New Zealand travellers like to do something different and when they get onto a Dream Cruise they become immersed in the Asian culture straight away. We are filling a gap in the premium and luxury market.’ On Wednesday Dream Cruises took selected wholesale and retail to Waiheke where they visited three wineries for tastings (Kennedy point, Casita Miro and Te Motu) with Waiheke Island Wine Tours and then enjoyed a lunch at Mudbrick.
