Headed by HOT’s ‘Yo Pro guru’ Laura Hutchins, it aims at a younger demographic who want the security of expert advice and the confidence provided by a bonded travel agent.
Victoria Wales, of HOT Christchurch City, says these travellers have the means and the desire to travel and, for the time being, are considering suitable experiences close to home.
‘They are definitely looking at getting on a plane but they are well aware of the practicalities of travel at the moment. So as well as New Zealand they are considering the Pacific Islands and the east coast of Australia – there is a lot of interest in Queensland.’
Wales says the interest the company has received from young professionals mirrors international research that shows this age group will lead the recovery.
She says a number of suppliers have come up with innovative new ideas that suit the market on the domestic scene – Contiki and Holiday Inn Express Queenstown as just two examples.
