A$40K scholarship

New Zealand travel agency leaders are being urged to encourage their team members to apply for a major industry scholarship that until now has been the domain of Australians.

This is the second year in its 22-year history that the Avis Budget Group’s travel agent scholarship has been open to Kiwi agents. However this is the first time it has been launched simultaneously to both New Zealand and Australia. ‘We did offer it to New Zealanders last year but it was more of a last minute thing,’ says Ross Morley, head of corporate sales Pacific, Avis Budget Group. Even so, about 24 Kiwis entered the fray and one was a finalist.

This year the prize includes attendance at the Phocuswright Conference in Singapore on 14 October, with registration, Qantas flights and accommodation included. It also covers 12 months individual membership of CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association) Australasia and a free registration to attend Cruise360 in Sydney in 2019, an invitation to attend the 2019 TAANZ NTIA gala dinner, professional coaching and more. The application is to be lodged by 12 October 2018, finalists to be announced on 25 October and winner’s announcement on 13 November. www.avisscholarship.com
