For those not riding, a short walking track accesses a ridge with views into Crystal Valley and of surrounding mountain tops.
Porters Lodge is also now a year-round operation, with Porters taking over management of Porters Lodge last winter.
The lodge sleeps about 40 and has a café/restaurant overlooking the trails and a licensed bar.
‘Porters Lodge is becoming the hub for the area for bikers, walkers and as a place to just eat, have a drink and relax,’ says Collins.
Porters also offers 4WD transport to the ridge tops of Porters Ski Area, with views from the alps to the ocean.
