City breaks give agents opportunities

Travel agents and brokers are being encouraged to take advantage of a consumer promotion encouraging Kiwis to take a holiday in a New Zealand city.

Tourism New Zealand’s City Breaks campaign went live yesterday and the organisation has designed a ‘launch pack’ specifically for the travel trade.

The purpose of the pack is to provide clarity on the campaign and note how agents can leverage TNZ’s activities within their own business.

‘There are so many great things to do that Kiwi travelers often forget or don’t know about – this campaign provides new ideas on what a city holiday in New Zealand feels like,’ says Bjoern Spreitzer, TNZ’s general manager domestic. ‘There are a number of ways for travel agents to participate in this campaign to leverage it for sales generation.’

In the pack, TNZ has provided details of

the campaign, links to content and feature operators, and select creative.

The campaign, which will run until 28 February, is centred around Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. It includes a partnership with Neat Places, which has locally curated guides to each city.

TNZ says that city breaks in New Zealand are sometimes perceived as ‘not ideal’ holiday options.

‘This is an opportunity to show Kiwis differently. Cities have a great breadth of experiences from shopping to wildlife and nature, to luxury spas and glamping – clients can get the full package.’

The launch pack gives agents a number of tips on how they can participate, including leveraging TNZ’s marketing as free exposure for their own campaigns and sourcing city specific deals.
