Leisurely & active for women

Tours that offer active (but not strenuous) walking or e-biking, in combination with seeing the sights of an area and taking part in leisurely activities like shopping or wine tasting are generating interest for next year.

Marie Coles, founder of Roam Travel Adventures, says the company offers travel for small groups of up to 12 (women only) and delves into rural New Zealand to connect with local characters.

‘Our guests tend to be aged 50-75 plus years, are lovers of the outdoors, art, gardens, local cuisine. They’re also fit, active, inquisitive and enjoy exploring and learning,’ says Coles, who has a travel industry background. ‘They enjoy the comradery, fun and social aspects of travelling with just women. Most tours have a focus on leisure walking or cycling, and are commissionable to travel agents.’

Roam Adventures was formed last year and operated a number of successful trips between lock downs and other Covid restrictions.

Scheduled for February next year is a Wairarapa Walking Tour focusing on Kawakawa Station and Martinborough.

The Coromandel, Far North and Bay of Islands, plus  Nelson-Tasman and Golden Bay, are some of the other regions being visited by Roam Adventures.
