Located on an elevated peninsula at the confluence of the Zambezi and Musesenji Rivers, the camp occupies the easternmost reaches of Lower Zambezi National Park. The park spans more than 4,000sqm and is known for sightings of elephant, leopard, lion, African wild dog, and more than 430 bird species.
Musesenji River Camp comprises five luxury safari tents and one family luxury safari tent, accommodating 14 guests in total. Each tent has its own private plunge pool and is fully air-conditioned. The camp is solar-powered, uses a water filtration system, and has been built without permanent concrete footings to minimise its environmental footprint.
Guided experiences include walking safaris, boat cruises and game drives, with the camp minutes from Kulefu Airstrip. This gives guests easy onward access to Ker & Downey’s King Lewanika Lodge in Liuwa Plain, as well as other Zambian safari highlights.
Rates vary seasonally from approximately $2,280 to $3,240 per adult per night, with shoulder season running 1 April to 30 June and 1-30 November, and high season from 1 July to 31 October.
Tanya Gurtin, Africa product manager at Viva Expeditions, says the new camp is an exceptional option for travellers seeking an exclusive safari experience.
