Wadi Rum Wadi Rum

Jordan plus plus on radar

Jordan is a rising star for the travel industry at the moment, World Journeys director and Middle East/North Africa specialist Kate Couling says.

She adds that Petra, the ancient Roman city of Jerash, the Dead Sea and Wadi Rum are the main drawcards.

‘In particular, Petra by Night is in hot demand – the spectacle of this rock city lit by over 1,500 candles is mesmerising.’

Couling says a recent trend is the demand for itineraries combining Jordan with Egypt and/or Israel and Morocco.

‘It seems clients are keen to explore more widely in the region, which is a great opportunity for agents to upsell their clients onto a longer itinerary.’

‘The best time to travel to Jordan is generally March through to November – be aware it can be very hot and dry in the summer months of July and August.’
