The new Concourse D, scheduled to open late 2028, will add a further 19 gates and have a walkway through to the existing terminal C.
Down the track a new (second) international terminal with convenient access to Terminals D and C (and a future Terminal E planned for the early 2030s) will be added.
Angie Kocerka, deputy commissioner – marketing, air service and partnerships, says the developments will significantly reduce the time it takes to transfer between many domestic and international flights.
The new work, known as ORDNext, follows the recently completed expansion to O’Hare’s existing Terminal 5, adding 10 gates and a reconfigured international arrivals hall.
