Premium cabin demand to hold

Air New Zealand expects the demand for premium cabin space to hold for some time yet, says chief sales and customer officer Leanne Geraghty.

Attending the MEETINGS 2022 expo in Christchurch this month, Geraghty says it is clear that pent up demand after two years of restrictions and people wanting more space has obviously contributed to demand for the premium cabins.

‘I think that is going to be here for a while. I don’t see a reduction in demand for premium in the short term.’

MEETINGS was held in Christchurch for the first time in 14 years and attracted some 500 buyers of incentive and conference product.

Geraghty says Air New Zealand is looking forward to increased interest from that high quality market sector out of the USA as it becomes easier to travel.

‘Obviously we welcome the announcement that the pre-departure testing will be dropped in time for the July holidays.

‘As we are able add more capacity we certainly anticipate more demand from the incentive sector, but also from business travel in general.’
