Air pinch points ‘sorting out’

Airlines and airports are likely to have sorted out many of their ‘pinch points’ by the time the Australasian cruise season ramps up later this year, says Matt Grimes, senior vice president fleet operations with Viking.

He says that from comments on social media it is evident that it is the air sector that is putting a lot of people off at the moment.

‘There is a lot of doom and gloom in the European media at the moment around lost baggage and other issues. However the reality is that things are not as bad as are being reported and the situation in Europe is improving day by day,’ says Grimes.

He says the challenges facing the air sector are not unlike that facing tour operators and others servicing the cruise industry right now.
