CI reduces upfront commissions

China Airlines has advised agents it will change its upfront commission from 5% to 2% for tickets issued from 1 February 2023 ex NZ to world destinations (eg AKL-BNE, AKL-TPE and beyond).

In a statement to trade last week, CI notes that the easing of the pandemic and lifting of border restrictions mean that demand for travel is now on the rise again.

‘However, it is clear that we still face some significiant challenges and it may yet be some time until we can be confident that the impact of pandemic is truly behind us.,’ CI says.

‘As part of our recovery plan, and so that we can make sure that we operate in a competitive cost model, we have taken the tough but necessary decision to amend our base commission for travel agents in New Zealand to 2%.

‘The decision has not been taken lightly and we remain fully committed to working with our valued travel partners on this transition to a more sustainable partnership that ensures our mutual success.’
