San Antonio – city on a mission

Host city of last week’s IPW US travel expo, San Antonio, Texas, boasts a rich history and a mix of of cultures that are intrinsically linked and prides itself in the preservation of both.

This is illustrated dramatically at San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, a national park with a difference in that it showcases five Spanish Missions dating back to the early 1700s.

PT Lathrop, chief of interpretation, education and volunteers at the park, says the UNESCO site is the greatest concentration of original Spanish churches in the United States and can be explored by car, bike or foot.

‘All of them are just three miles apart and they are less than three miles from the CBD.’

The park hosts guided tours at 10am, 11am and 2pm on 362 days of the year.
