The escorted touring operator, which has been taking travellers to China for almost 30 years, says interest in the destination has surged in 2026, driven by China’s visa-free entry for NZ passport holders, growing confidence in the destination and feedback from returning customers.
Leading the new collection is China Uncovered, an itinerary that has proven an early success, with all 2026 departures sold out. The tour combines China’s iconic highlights, including the Great Wall, the Terracotta Warriors and a Yangtze River cruise, with some of the country’s most talked-about modern attractions – such as futuristic Chongqing and the landscapes of Zhangjiajie, whose sandstone pillars inspired the scenery in Avatar.
The new brochure also introduces new itineraries designed to showcase both China’s famous landmarks and its lesser-known regions, giving repeat visitors and first-time travellers more choice.
Paul Dymond, managing director of Wendy Wu Tours New Zealand, says visa-free travel has certainly helped remove a barrier.
‘However, what we’re hearing time and again from customers is how surprised they are by modern China. They come home talking about how safe, clean, efficient and welcoming it is, alongside its history, landscapes and cuisine.
‘That word of mouth has become one of our biggest drivers of growth.’
The brochure reflects the growing popularity of Central Asia, with an expanded collection of tours.
Among highlights is the 28-day Journey Through Central Asia – an in-depth exploration across all five of the region’s ‘Stans’.
To celebrate the new brochure, Wendy Wu Tours is offering extra value throughout July. Travellers booking any group tour or departure featured in the brochure can choose between the popular partner flies free offer or half-price single supplements.
Travel agents can order copies through BrochureNet.
