Southern Cross Tours latest Gold Coast hinterland itinerary – Kangaroos and Mountain Views – is gaining traction with the New Zealand trade and their customers.

The company’s head of sales and marketing, Zoe Abrahams says the approximately five-hour tour was launched at the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) earlier this year and includes a walk at Tamborine Mountain, opportunities to view kangaroos and koalas in the wild as well morning tea and scones, a visit to Coombabah Lakelands and other features.

The tour joins a number of rainforest excursions designed to show off a different side to the Gold Coast away from its popular coastline and theme parks.

A group of New Zealand trade partners on the Gold Coast Reverse Road Show were given a customised tour into the hinterland last month that took in Tamborine Mountain Coffee Plantation, Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk, Curtis Falls, lunch at Willow and Sage and a gin tasting at Cauldron Distillery.

Abrahams points out that Southern Cross Tours’ trips tend to have a focus on local producers and opportunities to taste their wares.

‘All of our tours also have some sort of National Park component.’
