That statement is evident with Summer: The Donna Summer Musical, which although it has had a few tweaks from the original (mainly tightening it up to fit a 70 minute time frame) was reworked in collaboration with original directors, co-writers, creators and designers.
For many NCL guests, especially those from outside America, Summer (being performed on the new Norwegian Prima) is an unknown show and the high quality of it will be a surprise.
‘It only lasted three or four months on Broadway but we at NCL fell in love with it and we really wanted to give it a second life,’ says Hertenstein.
The cast includes three Donnas, all of whom fronted at a press conference during the Norwegian Prima’s inaugural cruise out of Galveston over the weekend.
Young ‘duckling’ Donna is played by D’Nasya Jordan, disco Donna by Valerie Curlingford and diva Donna by Kimberley Locke.
