Second Prima class ship boosts opportunities for trade and clients, says NCL

The delivery yesterday of Norwegian Cruise Line’s second Prima Class Norwegian Viva to the 19-ship fleet will give new opportunities to the New Zealand trade when it comes to Mediterranean and later Caribbean cruising, says NCL’s managing director and VP APAC, Ben Angell.

The cruise line hosted a ‘Mediterranean Long Lunch’ with New Zealand and Australian attendees yesterday to celebrate the debut of the new Norwegian Viva and what is being billed as its ‘greatest Europe season yet’.

‘The response we have received from our Kiwi and Aussie guests to our new Prima Class ships has been overwhelming,’ Angell adds. ‘Seasoned cruisers and newcomers are embracing the innovative design, accommodations, and onboard experiences. We are confident Norwegian Viva will be another game changer in the cruise industry, offering local travellers even more opportunities to discover our new benchmark for experiential cruise travel in the Mediterranean.’

NCL is now counting down to the first voyage of the new ship, when it sets sail from Trieste, Italy on a nine-day Mediterranean voyage next week, on 10 August.

Norwegian Viva will feature the at-sea debut of the Tony Award®-nominated production, ‘Beetlejuice – The Musical’, a lively adaptation of Tim Burton’s 1988 film. Norwegian Viva also features a reimagined outdoor sculpture garden, The Concourse.

Following her inaugural European season, Norwegian Viva will be officially christened in a ceremony in Miami on 28 November 2023. Norwegian Viva will then homeport in San Juan, Puerto Rico for a season of Caribbean voyages from December 2023 through March 2024, before returning to Europe.
