Paris Region among highlights at workshop

Paris Region will have a high profile at the French Travel Workshop next month.

Organised by Atout France, the French Tourist Bureau, the event is being held on Friday 9 September at Sofitel Auckland.

Paris Region is known for its culture and events, major exhibitions, gastronomy, shopping and nightlife. However, it is also a nature and leisure destination where the parks, gardens and walks give many opportunities for outdoor exploration.

Among the new attractions is a renewed selection of masterpieces from the Al Thani Collection, in the exhibition gallery of the Hotel de la Marine – itself an emblematic site of French heritage with a view of the Place de la Concorde.

Meantime, the Carnavalet Museum – History of Paris exhibition retraces the history of the capital and of Parisians. After four years of restoration work, it offers a tour of the collection with some 625,000 works on display.

The workshop will also showcase UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Chateau de Versaillles, for example, which covers 787 hectares, offers five tour routes – the State Apartments and the Hall of Mirrors; the Chapel and the 17th century galleries; the Museum of French History; the Apartments of the Dauphin and Dauphine; and the Apartments of Mesdames, daughters of Louise XV.

A tour of the Chateaux de Treason and the estate of Marie Antoinette is another must for clients visiting the area.
