Moselle Valley highlight of brochure

The just released Cycling Europe’s 2023 Bike Boat & Barge brochure offers 41 routes in 14 different countries.

The company’s director, Jill Grant says the programme allows clients to live aboard a traditional vessel and bike a well-researched route to places of interest each day before meeting their vessel in the afternoon at a new location.

‘Groups are made up of like-minded multi-national bikers who add another dimension to the trips. As one client remarked – they’re people you ordinarily wouldn’t come into contact with and they make the trip fun and interesting,’ adds Grant.

A popular destination for 2023 is Germany’s Moselle Valley. Several different Bike Boat & Barge routes starting from Amsterdam, Koblenz and Lorraine in France, all lead to this wine-growing area.

‘Lovely old villages with half-timbered houses, the Roman gate at Trier, hill-top castles, cobbled market squares and ancient churches are round every bend in the river’ says Grant.

Vessels on these routes range from small comfort barges, larger superior boats and premium barges so all budgets are catered for. Each day’s ride averages round 45km so there’s plenty of time for wine tasting in the old wine towns along the route.  The grade is easy to moderate with a few hills, however ebikes can be reserved.

The brochure is published online as a flip book with links to each tour  page.
