The response from both New Zealand travel agents and Tasmanian tourism suppliers to a full day of meetings in Auckland today augurs well for the developing relationship between the two destinations, says Tourism Tasmania.
Some 100 Kiwi travel advisors and 15 Tassie suppliers are expected at the Meet Your neighbours sessions at The Glasshouse in Morningside.

Tourism Tasmania is pleased with the start of the Air New Zealand flight between Auckland and Hobart, and the office is hearing from New Zealand trade that there is plenty of interest in the destination.
Chief executive of Tourism Tasmania, John Fitzgerald, says Air New Zealand is also reporting to be happy with how things are tracking.
‘We are tracking where we thought we would be and the holiday periods of July and October are looking strong. We’re super confident about the market long term.’

Direct flights between Auckland and Hobart could be a reality by 2020, especially if the growth from New Zealand to Tasmania continues as it is, according to John Fitzgerald, chief executive officer of Tourism Tasmania. Fitzgerald’s comments came as he and other representatives from the tourism office welcomed about 120 Kiwi travel agents to a function at Sofitel Viaduct Harbour in Auckland last night. The roadshow heads on to Wellington and Christchurch today and tomorrow.
