GFOB’s Europe launch events – that’s a wrap

The Globus family of brands has just wrapped up a two week multi-city programme of Europe launch events around New Zealand, emphasising new products in its range as well as reminding agents of more familiar options.

Alka Thapar, national sales manager NZ, says the turnout and interest from agents and brokers around the country has been appreciated at a time when everyone is extremely busy.

‘We’ve always had a strong relationship with the trade, with 95% of our business coming through them and this has given us a chance to reconnect in a personal, face to face way.’

She says the new announcements, particularly those giving clients more flexibility – like Independence by Globus and Choice Touring by Globus – have been extremely well received, along with the news that Avalon will be cruising the Douro in Portugal from 2024.

Cambridge-based broker Nicky Knowles, of Travel Advocates, says the choice and independence options will be well received by customers.

‘A lot of people are looking for that. They like the sense of being in control but also having some security – and they like the price.’

Lucy Marshall of The Travel Brokers has experienced an Avalon Christmas Lights River Cruise pre-Covid and expects the new Portugal cruise on Avalon Alegria to be popular with clients. She also welcomes Independence by Globus.

‘There’s always demand for options pre and post as well as stopovers. Obviously anything we can sell up front is value for us, as well as showing care for the client if you can offer more than a transfer and a hotel.’
