TIME scholarships x3

New TIME NZ sponsors Silversea Cruises and Mint Payments, along with loyal sponsor Expedia TAAP have announced the recipients of their mentee scholarships, starting 8 March.

Angela Webber from House of Travel will be sponsored by Silversea Cruises, Danielle Mueth from First Light Travel by Mint, and Zaheda Davies, NZ Travel Brokers by Expedia TAAP.

‘Although there were many deserving candidates, Zaheda embodied the objectives, qualities and goals of a future TIME graduate,’ says Chris Jones from Expedia TAAP / Discover the World.

‘Expedia TAAP is committed to the ongoing support of TIME and its mentoring programme which provides knowledge, guidance and advice to aspirational individuals working in the tourism industry,’ Jones adds.

Mel Watson, country lead – NZ, Silversea Cruises, says the trade distribution plays a key role for Silversea.

‘We want to continue to foster the rebuilding of New Zealand’s travel agent sector,’ she says. ‘During the pandemic we demonstrated our support right through to the frontline consultant with our “Heroes by Silversea” awards and protected commissions. As the industry reboots, and our sales from New Zealand continue to climb, it’s important to us to continue to demonstrate our commitment to our trade partners and rebuild the Kiwi travel industry,’ Watson adds.

‘We appreciate the sponsors’ investment in the future of our travel industry,’ says TIME NZ program manager, Marg Spiro. ‘and for Silversea Cruises for  providing this opportunity for Angela to further succeed and shine in a profession she clearly loves as the industry rebuilds and reinvents in the cruise market and all areas of the industry.’

Mint's TIME NZ scholarship coincides with the release of MintEFT into the New Zealand market. Mint’s existing offering has now expanded from card acceptance terminals to include a solution for B2B supplier payments.

‘As Mint continues to launch new products designed specifically for the industry, I am thrilled we can give back by partnering with TIME and offering this scholarship to Danielle,’ says Hugh Twomey, chief growth officer at Mint Payments.

‘As a graduate of the programme myself, many of the learnings I gained helped to shape my career and I encourage all aspiring and future leaders of the industry to apply for future Mint and TIME opportunities as they eventuate.’
