SeaLink reconnects, new sales manager for NZ trade

SeaLink introduced its new ‘go-to’ person to New Zealand trade last week at a time when Kiwi visitor numbers are increasing again for the Australian company.

Tina Chaisuwan-Baker is now global sales coordinator and sales manager NZ, based in Sydney. She was one of the hosts, along with GM global sales and distribution Richard Doyle, at  an intimate function for agents, media and other industry partners at the Adina Hotel in Auckland on Wednesday.

Chaisuwan-Baker has been with SeaLink for 20 years, moving into various roles after she started in a hospitality role with Captain Cook Cruises operating in Sydney Harbour.

Doyle, who was on this side of the Tasman for the first time for five years, says the New Zealand market accounted for 7% pre-Covid and is now making a comeback towards those numbers again.

The company has wide selection of offerings, amongst them resorts and tours on K’gari (formerly Fraser Island) in Queensland and Kangaroo Island Odysseys in South Australia. Captain Cook Cruises, The Jackson and Starship Sydney on Sydney Harbour also have a high profile in the market.

Doyle says the Murray Princess in South Australia has rates for 2024-25, providing opportunities for the trade to sell that popular product now.

‘New Zealand has traditionally been the number one international market for Murray Princess and it is also extremely important to our Sydney and Queensland operations.’
