A roadshow focusing in high-end product has served to help fill a knowledge gap in this market about the level of luxury now available in Fiji, says Sonya Lawson, regional director New Zealand Tourism Fiji.

The tourism office, Fiji Airways and industry partners from the accommodation sector held trade evenings in Christchurch (attracting 60 agents) and Auckland (70) last week, and also held a lunch with product managers / wholesalers and broker brand heads on Friday, and a consumer media afternoon tea on Thursday.

‘These events aren’t about the numbers, they are about getting the right agents along so that they can pass their knowledge on to luxury level clients,’ says Lawson.

‘All of the operators here have new enhancements and developments to report on so it is evidence of how luxury product continues to evolve. They are also geographically diverse and are able to provide information on different areas around Fiji.’

The events have also been an opportunity for luxury agents to engage with TF’s new trade partnership manager New Zealand James Leslie and for him to meet the high-end industry partners from Fiji.
