Vax party at Vanuatu resorts

Nasama Resort and Breaka’s Beach Resort joined forces to hold Vanuatu’s first vaccination party over the weekend.

Anyone was welcome to come along, get vaccinated, and share some kai kai (dinner) and enjoy the entertainment. It was held at Nasama Resort’s new restaurant, The Three Pigs, and 380 people received their first or second dose on the day.

The Havannah Resort airport transport bus has also been running regularly from North Efate to Port Vila, a drive of about 45 minutes, to ensure their staff and their families and local villages and communities have access to vaccination.  The bus has transported over 600 people and the villages in the area have some of the highest vaccination rates in the country.

The Moso Vanuatu in conjunction with many small business owners have started a gofundme page dedicated to providing support to increase the vaccination rates in the more remote locations of Vanuatu.

Meantime, the vaccination programme continues to roll out. As of 24 October, 104,988 doses had been administered and 49% of the population had received one dose. This percentage is much higher in the more populated areas of Port Vila and Espiritu Santo where it is 73% and 75% respectively.
