PD Fiji becomes TEWAKA

The ‘Covid pause’ of the last 20 months has given time for one of Fiji’s best known tourism operators to rebrand and refocus.

Pacific Destinations Fiji is now TEWAKA, with a logo designed around the mangrove plant in the form of a Fijian Tapa design.

The company is still offering the services and products it has always been known for. Managing director James Sowane says TEWAKA will have an increased focus on corporate social responsibility, destination management (DMC) services and transport. It’s also working on an environmental initiative that will involve a local offset programme and tie in with the conservation of the country’s mangroves. ‘Since 2017 we have always wanted to change the brand to reflect the 100% Fiji ownership.’

The company officially launched its new website and brand on 1 December – when Fiji re-opened to international markets,

Sowane says credit is due to the New Zealand and Australian governments who made it possible for the country to reach the 9% plus vaccination target. He also applauded the Fiji government decision to give 1 December as the country’s opening date well in advance when it became obvious the country would reach the 90% target by then.
