Club Raro revamp gives trade new opportunity – changes to adults only

The extensive renovation of a perennial favourite in Rarotonga gives New Zealand travel advisors a fresh new product to recommend and sell.

Club Raro has reopened after two months with a complete make-over of the public areas, restaurant, lobby, bar, pathways, pool and pool surrounds to create a new guest experience.

From 1 May, Club Raro will become Rarotonga’s latest adults only resort for ages 18 years and over.

Experienced hospitality couple Tish (general manager) and Owen (chief engineer) Mete have been driving the project and say they are now ready to welcome guests to the new Club Raro experience.

Heather Gordon, director of sales and marketing Island Hotels Ltd, says that while Club Raro has always been popular with New Zealand clients this upgrade will clearly be welcomed by the trade.

‘I have been visiting agents around the country showing them photographs and updating them on the new-look. The response has been fabulous.’

Gordon says guests now enter the refreshed lobby, past water features on either side of the entrance, and see straight through to the Pacific Ocean.

Lounge furniture has replaced the lobby pond and creates a retro feel that recalls Club Raro’s 1970s origin.

Tropical breakfast and all-day dining are available in a new indoor / outdoor space shaded by established coconut trees.

Patios in front of standard and pool view rooms have been replaced and extended to provide guests with more space.

Additional areas have been created and tiled for sun loungers to relax poolside, while seating at the swim up bar has been doubled. There is also a Sand Bar where guests can watch waves break on the reef. As well as this Club Raro now has the Club Bar located in the Lobby, open from 11am until late.
